The Museum has a small library on the second floor of the Tavern Museum that is open when the Museum is open. It is a quiet, comfortable place for reading and research. There are over 350 books and booklets focusing on King and Queen County history, many authored by King and Queen County residents. These include books written about the local families, including many anecdotal stories of human interest, and histories of families in other Virginia counties that are connected to King and Queen County. Museum docents can often provide some assistance in your search for information. Books must be used in the library. Limited copying service is available for a small fee.
The library also has on DVD over 60 video history interviews of county senior citizens relating their experiences in the early-to-mid-1900s in King and Queen County. They share their knowledge of family, schools, farming, churches and major social events. Copies of these DVDs may be purchased at the Museum and on the Shop page.
A computer is available in the library to search the catalog of books and to view the DVDs. Internet access for research with genealogical information is generally available. There is no charge for use of these facilities.
