2020 First Quarter King & Queen County Historical Society Meeting Set For January 26
On Sunday, January 26, 2020 the King & Queen County Historical Society will meet in the Courts & Administration Building, 242 Allen’s Circle, King & Queen Court House, Virginia. The speaker will be Andrea Cumbo-Floyd, a historian and author with experience in researching enslaved communities all over Virginia. Her subject will be the challenge of genealogical research for African American families using traditional methods of research to recover the history of enslaved persons and their descendants. Ms. Cumbo-Floyd will discuss the most fruitful avenues of African American genealogical research as well as describe typical challenges with ways to confront them using examples from her own research and families in King & Queen County. Following the meeting refreshments will be served in the Courthouse Tavern Museum.
