2017 Holiday Open House
The King and Queen Courthouse Tavern Museum held its annual open house on Sunday afternoon December 3. Master of Ceremonies Newell Randall introduced students from Central High and the Fifth Grade at King and Queen Elementary School directed by Mr. Fielding, King and Queen County Schools music director, who entertained visitors with holiday music. Mr. Fielding also played music throughout the afternoon. Santa, sitting in his sleigh, was ready to take requests. Additional entertainment included face painting, rides in a cart pulled by a miniature horse and driven by Brandon Shearin, exhibits of old toys – including a train, and displays of quilts and quilt making. A Dinosaur (Dawn Shank) and Shark (Newell Randll) pointed the way to the new fossil and 18th Century Vessel exhibits in the Archives Building. Vendors provided opportunities for Christmas shopping. Delicious homemade food was available inside and outside. The Tavern Museum takes this opportunity to thank the community for its support throughout the year and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday season.
